Fish have been mainly confined to the larger holes up stream and the access areas near the mouth. Because of vandalism, the restrooms are not open from the outside anymore nor after office hours. Although the Erie tribs produce consistently large suckers, the State record sucker was caught on the Allegheny river in Forest County in 2003. A PFD is required for all persons on board. The Walleye seem to be plentiful so far this year. The basin is a great area for introducing the youngsters to steelhead fishing and is a good area for handicapped folks or those that just want to pull up a chairs and sink a line. William Stewart of Fayette City, PA brought in this fish for Angler Award. He caught it at the mouth of Crooked Creek using a single egg. It was 12 inches long and had a girth of 8 inches. It seems that for every couple of nice days that comes up there are a few bad days to follow. They hammer flies like the Pheasant Tail, Scud Patterns, and the Gold-Ribbed Hare's Ear. Some boats are limiting though out in the 55 ft of water area. Earlier this week temperatures soared into the upper eighties slowing the steelhead migration but at the same time allowing boaters to continue to take to the Lake for perch and walleye. Some Walleye are being caught from shore along the shoreline at Elk and Walnut Creeks as well as at Godfrey and Trout Runs after dark with one local angler saying the night time walleye bite is as good as it gets. Bass anglers are reporting the action is getting better throughout Presque Isle Bay. 25' - 40' of water due north and west of Walnut Creek. Sunday and Monday are mostly sunny and the rest or the week is going to be in the mid 40s to mid 50s with a 50% chance of showers every day until Friday. The color was Pink/Purple. Steelhead fishing continues to remain good on the west side Erie tributaries with consistently good flows and a good mix of fresh and dropback fish. On Tuesday, Tim Tomlin of the Presque Isle Anglers Group reported crappies, bluegills and perch were chowing throughout the shallows of Presque Isle Bay and the sub-bays on the peninsula side.
